Kansas City Chiefs, a team that could easily be the No. 1 seed in the AFC ended up losing three out of their last four games. And the reason? Chiefs’ wide receivers’ appalling mistakes of inconsistent performance and frequent drops in back-to-back games.

As a result, the Chiefs have fallen to an 8-5 standing, when they could be leading with 12-1 and a secured playoff spot. Despite the incompetency of the receivers, tight end Travis Kelce stood in defense of his teammates.

Not just that, he even expressed his disappointment with the media for criticizing the receivers. And hearing that, Chiefs’ critic and sports analyst Stephen A. Smith didn’t hold himself from speaking his mind with a piece of advice for the star tight end.

Smith said on The Stephen A. Smith Show:

Travis Kelce you need to stop, respectfully bro stop that. Your receivers have dropped 33 passes this year 33 dawg, and all the covid vaccine commercials with that smile on your face go hide that, hell rather than getting the vaccine shot they need to get some velcro or something attached to their damn hand so they'll catch the damn football, come on bro.

He emphasized that this is the team that is reigning Super Bowl Championships and this inconsistency back-to-back is non-excusable. He said:

It ain't like it's Stephen A. out there trying to catch a damn touchdown, these are professionals, I mean come on y'all are the reigning defending Super Bowl champions. There's no Tyreek Hill there just like there wasn't one last year, the only thing y'all missing is Juju Smith-Schuster, what's the problem?

The fact that due to the mistakes by the receivers, the Chiefs are leading the league in terms of drops, and both analysts and fans are finding this extremely disappointing.

Chiefs and Travis Kelce’s playoff hopes dwindle after losing streak

So far, the Chiefs are leading the AFC West with eight victories and five losses. As the team has lost four out of their last six games, their goal of becoming a Super Bowl contender seems long gone. Considering the current performances of the team, especially from receivers, the team needs immediate action in terms of improving their gameplay.

In addition to that, the Chiefs need to take a deeper look at their struggling offense, if they still desire to obtain the playoff spot. Just last week, the reigning Super Bowl championship ended up with a loss against the Buffalo Bills after their receiver Kadarius Toney made a grave mistake that resulted in him getting an offside penalty and the last touchdown being ruled out.

These mistakes in the long run would definitely result in hindering the Chiefs’ path of making the playoffs. The next opportunity for the Chiefs to secure a win would be against the New England Patriots, which is scheduled for today.
