Tom Brady is one of the most accomplished football players of all time. Many people consider him the greatest athlete in sports history. The New England Patriots icon has won the most Super Bowl rings in NFL history and holds many football records to his name. However, ESPN personality Stephen A. Smith doesn’t believe the 15-time Pro Bowler could be considered the greatest athlete in the world.
A few months ago Stephen A. Smith joined stand-up comedian Andrew Schulz‘s ‘Flagrant’ podcast where he discussed Tom Brady’s career immediately following the Patriots legend’s retirement. During the episode, when Schulz suggested that Brady is the greatest athlete ever in the world, Smith wasn’t on the same page.
“The word athlete has no business in the same sentence as Tom Brady,” stated Smith. “He is an elite passer of the football and an elite football mind which both contributed to him being the greatest quarterback ever, but he ain’t the greatest athlete ever, that is not true.” Smith continued to elaborate on his point that to be considered an athlete one should possess, “Speed, quickness, agility” and Tom Brady doesn’t have those things.
Additionally, Stephen A. Smith also quoted long-time NFL reporter Mike Francesa to support his claim. “Mike Francesa made a very valid point,” said Smith. “He said, I love Tom Brady, he’s got the greatest resume as a quarterback ever. He said, well we need to understand, he’s neither the greatest regular season QB ever, that was Peyton Manning. And he said nor is he the greatest Super Bowl QB ever, that would be Joe Montana.”

Tom Brady will soon start his sportscasting career with Fox Network

The New England Patriots icon Tom Brady recently retired from football after dominating the sport for more than two decades. He is currently enjoying his post-retirement life but he will soon honor his Fox Network deal, which he signed even before his retirement.
The 3-time league MVP QB signed a 10-year deal worth up to $375 million to work as a sports broadcaster with Fox Network. The deal didn’t have a clear timeline when Brady inked it. However, after retiring from football Brady made it clear that he would start his sportscasting career after taking a break from professional life to spend time with his family.
The 45-year-old former quarterback is expected to start his analyst career in the fall of 2024. Till then, he would continue to spend time with his kids and involved in other activities including concentrating on his “passive ownership role” in the Las Vegas Raiders management.
