Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts have cemented themselves in the history books by becoming the first Black QBs to ever be part of a Super Bowl final. This is a massive feat for the sport that promotes racial diversity and has players from every race and religion playing for them.

However, that wasn’t the case previously as there were many cases of racial bias in the NFL, and many quality players, specifically QBs, didn’t get the chance just because of the color of their skin.

Stephen A. Smith recently featured on the First Take and spoke about this massive feat achieved by two qualities QBs. Smith believes that this moment is huge and it shows how far the league has come.

“Hurts and Mahomes’ presence as quarterbacks on this stage, is an opportunity to highlight that there were many who came before them who could’ve been them, but were denied the opportunity to do so strictly for the color of their skin,” Stephen A. Smith stated on the First Take on ESPN.

Mahomes and Hurts are currently part of something that is bigger than them. They are representing all the Black QBs before them who were ‘ostracized’ and ‘marginalized’ just because of the color of their skin. The Chiefs-Eagles QB duo has shown the whole world that everyone is equal and even people of color can excel if given the right opportunity.
