Zach Wilson has had a massive fall from grace this season as the Jets QB has turned into the villain of New York and was consistently booed throughout the Jaguars game.
The Jets-Jaguars game was a must-win for the New Yorkers and they put their shining jewel Wilson as the starting QB. However, it didn’t turn out as HC Robert Saleh would have imagined. The Jets lost miserably to a highly motivated Jaguars fighting for a place in the playoffs.
Wilson was faced with loads of criticism and scrutiny after being benched during half-time. The media doubled down on the Jets QB and made some bold statements regarding his future.
Stephen A. Smith was recently featured on ESPN’s First Take and launched a scathing attack on the 23-year-old for his despicable form. According to Smith, Wilson is the reason the Jets didn’t make the playoffs.
“Zach Wilson has got to go, he’s done in New York.” Stephen A. Smith stated on ESPN’s First Take. “There’s nothing to talk about, Wilson is the reason this team didn’t make the playoffs.”
Smith was brutal with his comments and stated that the New Yorkers are done with the 2nd year QB and he’s not even half the player that Browns QB Justin Fields is as they were both drafted the same year.

Zach Wilson’s journey with the Jets is almost over

Zach Wilson failed to perform against the Jaguars which was a must-win game for the Jets. The fans were fed up with the 23 year old and booed him off the field. He was replaced in the second half, although it was too late for the Jets to do something about it.
Wilson should lots of potential when he was drafted as no.2 overall pick. However, he couldn’t turn the potential into something and failed massively. Nonetheless, the Jets QB has time on his side and can seriously turn his future around. Although he will have to do that in another team as he has lost all the confidence of his teammates.
Zach Wilson is in a precarious position and one bad move can see him end his NFL journey unceremoniously. The Jets coaching staff and HC Robert Saleh will need to reconsider Wilson’s future in the team as consistent benching can also hinder his improvement.
The Jets have 4 QBs including Wilson as Joe Flacco and Mike White have shown the caliber to move this team forward. Therefore, it would be reasonable for the team to let go of the infamous QB.
