Robert Griffin III‘s inclusion of Dak Prescott as one of the candidates running for the NFL MVP has shocked Stephen A. Smith so much that he had to ask his fellow ESPN analyst whether he was mistaken. Unfortunately for the veteran analyst, RG3 is a firm believer that the Dallas Cowboys quarterback is having a season to remember.
Smith fired a quickie during the recent segment of his YouTube program by FanDuel, The Stephen A. Smith show, asking the former NFL QB, C.J. Stroud, to win the Rookie of the Year award, to which RG3 agreed. Then came the question that started all the mayhem between the two.
Stroud is in my top 5. The other four are A.J. Brown, Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa, and Dak Prescott.Robert Griffin III told Stephen A. Smith
As if he had heard the Bible being recited backward, Smith was startled and lashed out at RG3.
"Dak Prescott? Dak Prescott? Dak Prescott! the MVP? an league MVP?"Stephen A. Smith
Stephen A. Smith could not believe Robert Griffin III chose Dak Prescott as one of the MVP candidates
Just a few days ago, Smith went on a rant on Get Up on Prescott being one of the all-time greats to wear the Dallas Cowboys jersey. He flipped that day too, asking how someone who has had two playoff wins in eight years can be called an all-time great.
Sticking to that trend, he was flabbergasted about how RG3 could choose the 30-year-old as an MVP candidate when he hasn’t even beaten a .500 team in 2023. He fired back at the former Washington signal-caller with valid questions

“Over the past 4 games, Dak Prescott has gotten 12 touchdowns and a passer rating of 125,” RG3 replied. Smith was having none of it and let out a huge sigh, “Oh my lord!”
Stephen A. pointed out that two of the four games were against the New York Giants, who are 2-8. So winning against them doesn’t count at this juncture. But Smith got the math wrong. The Cowboys played the Giants on opening weekend, in which they scored 40 unanswered points.
Not to mention, since the 49ers won against Prescott and Co., they went on a 3-game losing streak. The same goes for Arizona, who are 2 and 8 themselves. The two-time Pro Bowler has completed 101 passes with a rate of 125.1 for 1354 yards and thrown 12 touchdowns, as RG3 mentioned.
In comparison, last season’s MVP winner, Patrick Mahomes, has a 70.7 passer rating. The Chiefs quarterback has nine touchdowns and four interceptions.
