The Dallas Cowboys general manager Jerry Jones has done a great job assembling a talented roster in the 2023 off-season. Under the leadership of Dak Prescott, the Cowboys would be competing for the Super Bowl in the upcoming season. But are they currently a Top 5 team in the NFL? Well, Shannon Sharpe thinks so but Stephen A. Smith disagrees.

During the recent episode of the ESPN Show First Take, Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe made a list of their top 5 NFL teams heading into the 2023 NFL season. Shannon’s top 4 teams were the Kansas City Chiefs, the San Francisco 49ers, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Cincinnati Bengals. All 4 teams were in the conference championship games last season.

Sharpe further said it was a tie between the Buffalo Bills and the Cowboys for the 5th spot on his list. That’s when Stephen A. lost his mind. “The Cowboys? The COWBOYS?” Smith, a notorious hater of the Dallas-based football team, exclaimed.

Shannon claimed that he considers the Cowboys the 5th best team in the league because of their defense. He also said that the Cowboys have no excuse now that head coach Mike McCarthy has the play-calling duties. But Smith wasn’t buying that.

“I don’t even understand how the Cowboys [are] in that equation because Dak Prescott is a huge question mark,” said Smith.“You [Sharpe] don’t even have him as top 10 quarterback.”

Furthermore, Smith also had problems with Sharpe ranking the 49ers ahead of the Eagles since the Philadelphia-based franchise beat the Niners in the NFC game last year. But Sharpe rejected Smith’s argument and said what happened last year is irrelevant.

Before Shannon Sharpe revealed his rankings his verbal sparring partner Stephen A. Smith had his own list of top 5 teams in the NFL. Smith had the same top 4 teams as Shannon just in different order but Stephen A. picked the New York Jets as his 5th best team.

Stephen A. claimed that the Jets now have one of the best quarterbacks in the league Aaron Rodgers and they have talent all across the field, including stars like Dalvin Cook, Garrett Wilson, and Sauce Gardner.

Furthermore, Smith also believes the Jets have one of the best defensive units in the league. So he ranked the NY Jets ahead of the Josh Allen-led Bills. Sharpe, on the other hand, had the Bills and the Cowboys as his 5th best team and didn’t acknowledge the Jets.
