Stephen A. Smith has issued a public apology to pop singer Rihanna for downplaying her a couple of days ago. Rihanna will be performing at this season’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show and speaking to Sherri Shepherd, Smith controversially trolled Rihanna and said that she ain’t Beyonce. After this, the Rihanna fan base slammed Smith for his comments, and hence, he was forced to apologize.

He took to social media and owned up to his words saying that he gets paid for what he says and hence it is his responsibility to think before he speaks. He gave the right message to Rihanna and told her that she’s sensational and ain’t no joke. He added that she totally deserves to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show this year.

“I’m gonna own it,” he said. “I know what y’all tryin’ to do. But I’m gon’ own it because I get paid to speak for a living, so I need to be more careful. I want Rihanna to know: You’re a superstar, you’re sensational, you’re spectacular. You’re no joke. And you are a worthy person to be doing the Super Bowl halftime show.”

Speaking further, Smith clarified that she is a Beyonce fan and believes that Beyonce is ‘The performer’. He added that the only reason why he compared her to Rihanna is that she has already performed at the halftime show twice and he believes that those two shows were the greatest of all time in Super Bowl history.

“Now I’m a Beyoncé fan,” he stated. “I think that Beyoncé is not only a phenomenal performer, but the phenomenal performer. And the only reason any kind of comparison came into play is because Beyoncé performed at halftime at the Super Bowl not just by herself, but one separate Super Bowl performance with Bruno Mars and Coldplay. And I thought that those were two of the greatest shows that I’ve ever seen. So what I’m saying is anybody has to measure up to that.”

There is a lot of hype about the Super Bowl LVII halftime show because of Rihanna and it is projected that this year’s halftime show will be one of the best because of the popularity of the pop singer. Talking about Smith, before getting in trouble with Rihanna, he was trolled massively after the Dallas Cowboys demolished the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
