America can look forward to seeing one of its favorite sports presenters, Shannon Sharpe, back in the studio. The footballer-turned-analyst has been eyeing a new home, and he could move in with ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith at First Take.
Shannon’s joining ESPN was already hinted at by both him and Stephen A. Smith. Earlier this week, Smith shared a tweet encouraging everyone to look forward to the Stephen A. Smith Show’s massive reveal. Naturally, various media outlets started speculating about whether the charismatic presenter was finally going to announce Sharpe’s appointment.
A few hours later, Shannon himself shared the tweet, asking what the veteran presenter wanted to reveal. He promised to keep his schedule open and watch the show to find out for himself. On Friday, July 21st, Stephen A. Smith revealed on his show that he wants his “brother” to come and join him by his side.
“I want Shannon Sharpe on First Take, and I aim to get’em,” Stephen A. Smith made his intentions clear. “We are definitely talking to him. The conversations are official. I am hopeful, very hopeful, and confident, and ultimately we will be announcing sooner rather than later that he will be on the show.”
However, Smith also touched upon the fact that the contract part is not up to him. The network is trying to sort out the details, and once that’s done, they will announce the good news.
“The Honchos are talking to Shannon Sharpe. They are fully aware that Stephen A. wants Shannon Sharpe on First Take,” Stephen A. Smith revealed. “I don’t make the decisions; I have bosses and executives. I don’t give a damn if he brings a bottle of Hennessy with him. I want him on First Take.”

Besides Shannon Sharpe, who are the frontrunners to partner Stephen A. Smith on First Take?
While three-time Super Bowl winner Shannon Sharpe might be the viewers’ choice to be part of First Take, he’s not the only one running for the show.
Former Washington Commanders safety Ryan Clark is one of the names Stephen A. mentioned he would like to have on his show. Clark is currently the host of the Pivot Podcast on YouTube. Moreover, senior ESPN analyst Mina Kimes is another hopeful that the fans could see as a contributor to the show.
Besides Clark and Kimes, Stephen A. mentioned former Baltimore Ravens defensive end Marcus Spears. The 40-year-old regularly appears on ESPN’s Get Up and has previously co-hosted First Take.
