After taking a short break from television, Stephen A. Smith returned to ESPN to host his First Take on Monday. Smith has gained a lot of followers in sports media with his theatrical debates. In that trend, Smith has pulled off another stunt as he got into a heated debate with Ryan Clark over the Dak Prescott-led Cowboys’ Super Bowl chances in the upcoming season.
Speaking on Monday’s episode of the ESPN Show First Take, the former NFL defensive back said, “Dak Prescott will be better this year, the Dallas Cowboys will be better this year.” He also went on to say that the Cowboys “have a chance to have the best defense in the entire NFL.”
Smith didn’t agree with Ryan Clark’s statements. “I’ve said, ‘If the nuclear bomb dropped, it’s rats, roaches, and Cowboys fans,’” Smith said. “It’s amazing to me after all the years of futility they have you and everybody else sitting up there and going, ‘They gonna be better this year, they gonna be better this year.”
Stephen A. Smith is known for his hatred for the Cowboys and its fans and he continued to trash the Dallas-based football team for their repeated playoff failures over the years. “They are going to be right there, they are going to be good enough to get in the playoffs, then they’re going to go home. I’m done with the Cowboys stuff, you don’t listen. Despite how good they are talent-wise, they’re going to fall again,” said Smith.
Furthermore, when Clark didn’t agree with Smith and showed a sign of frustration, Smith stormed off the set leaving behind NFL reporter Kimberly Martin and Christine Williamson to continue the show.

Dak Prescott and the Cowboys have gotten better in the off-season

Stephen A. Smith can disagree with this statement but the truth is the Dallas Cowboys have gotten a lot better in the off-season and they are competing for the Super Bowl in the upcoming season. The Cowboys went shopping in the off-season and added veteran wide receiver Brandin Cooks and veteran cornerback Stephon Gilmore to their already stacked roster. They also recently signed their star cornerback Trevon Diggs to a massive 5-year deal worth up to $97 million.
With the addition of Gilmore, now the Cowboys boast one of the toughest defenses in the league. It all comes down to how well their franchise Prescott can handle pressure in tough situations. If Prescott can perform in clutch situations, the Cowboys will have a shot at winning the title this year.
