“Worst plane crash,” Stephen Belichick reveals the most heartbreaking defeat for the New England Patriots

Stephen Belichick might be following his father, Bill Belichick’s footsteps in the world of the NFL, but the two are very different individuals when it comes down to media interactions. The New England Patriots head coach often tries to stick to conversations regarding the game, but his son, Stephen Belichick might be a bit more outspoken and forward.
The 35-year-old, who currently serves as the outside linebacker coach for the Patriots recently revealed the most heartbreaking that the franchise has gone through in recent times. Stephen Belichick made these revelations during an appearance on the Green Light podcast, hosted by former NFL player, Chris Long.

Stephen Belichick claimed the Super Bowl 2017 defeat was the toughest to take
Belichick compared the defeats in the postseason to plane crashes, as is the trend inside the Patriots camp, where they equate losses during that time of the season to a plane landing. He claimed that the New England Patriots Super Bowl 2017 defeat against the Philadelphia Eagles, which came by a close margin of 41-33 was the toughest pill that they have swallowed in recent times.
Stephen Belichick exclaimed, “We have a saying around here: ‘Once you get to the playoffs, only one plane lands — and everybody else crashes and burns in the ocean. It’s the truth. Only one team’s plane is going to land and everybody else is going to crash and burn. That time of the year, it’s either a hat and t-shirt game or it’s a trash bag game.”

“You’re cleaning out your locker with trash bags or you’re celebrating with some new hats and t-shirts. You guys beating us in the Philly Super Bowl in 2017,” he said. “That sucked.”
Nick Foles won the Super Bowl MVP award for the Philadelphia Eagles, while Tom Brady had a bad day at the office, and failed to win the title for Bill Belichick and company. However, he made it up by winning the Super Bowl in 2018, and Stephen Belichick and the Patriots did not have to wait long to get their hands on the Super Bowl ring.
