The San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa is currently one of the best players in the NFL. He was drafted by the 49ers as the second overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, the same year the Arizona Cardinals drafted the Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray as the 1st overall pick.
And now, four years after the 2019 NFL Draft, then-Cardinals GM Steve Keim has shared an interesting story involving the star defensive end Nick Bosa and the Arizona QB Kyler Murray.
During his recent appearance on the Fox Sports show, The Herd with Colin Cowherd, the former Cardinals general manager Keim revealed that during the 2019 draft process, Bosa, who was one of the top prospects in that draft class warned him about drafting Murray with the first overall pick.
“When Kliff, Kingsbury, and I got together, you know, to go to see players and have dinners we went to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and had dinner with Nick Bosa before the prior to the draft. Yeah and loved him, obviously our highest-rated guy on the board. Amazing in every way,” said Steve Keim. “So we were leaving, we were leaving the dinner and we’re walking out and I’ll never forget he puts his arm around me, Kliff Kingsbury, both of us in basically a headlock and he said, ‘I think you guys are probably going to end up taking that little quarterback and if you do, Steve, I will haunt you for the rest of your career.’”
Keim went on to say that he was just hoping Bosa wouldn’t be able to catch Murray in the pocket. And so far in 7 games against the Cardinals, Bosa has only registered 3 sacks. Furthermore, before leaving the Cardinals, Keim gave Murray a 5-year $230.5 million extension. So, it’s fair to say the Cardinals went with the right pick in 2019.

Nick Bosa exploded in the 2022 season
The Cardinals GM drafted Kyler Murray back in 2019 to address the important QB position. That led to the 49ers acquiring the Ohio State product Nick Bosa, one of the scariest edge rushers in the draft.
So far in his 4 years, the 25-year-old has received 3 Pro Bowl nods. The only season he didn’t reach Pro Bowl was in 2020, when he missed almost the entire year due to a torn ACL.
Bosa had his best season so far in the 2022 season when he exploded with a league-high 19.5 sacks and 2 forced fumbles. The 6’4″ defensive end won the Defensive Player of the Year award and finished 6th in the MVP voting.
