Jerry Jeudy, who was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, hasn’t lived up to his full potential in the league yet. He is currently playing in the final year of his rookie deal and is yet to register a 1000-plus receiving yards season. Amidst this, the Carolina Panthers legend Steve Smith sounded off on Jeudy and called him an average wide receiver just before the Broncos’ week 6 game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football.
Steve Smith, currently working on NFL Network as an analyst, revealed on air that Jeudy disrespected him before the Thursday night game. Smith said that he had referred to Jeudy as “JAG, just another guy” in the past and wanted to apologize to him for that. But Jeudy blew off Smith by saying, “I don’t mess with you,” but with a curse word. As a result, Smith felt disrespected by the Broncos pass catcher and sounded off on him.
“I’m sorry I said you were a ‘JAG,’ just a guy, who is an average wide receiver they used a first-round pick on that isn’t doing anything,” Steve Smith said in the TNF pregame show. “I hope today you actually show up in a way you haven’t shown up in the last couple years since they drafted you.”
Smith then disrespected Jeudy by calling him a tier-3 wide receiver and further said he wouldn’t suggest a team to trade for Jeudy since the young receiver is mentally unable to handle any criticism.
“So if you ever got a problem with Agent 89, I’m sorry for saying you’re an average wide receiver that they will eventually move on [from]. And when teams call me and ask if they should trade for you, I would say no, don’t trade for Jerry Jeudy. Because he’s mentally unable to handle constructive criticism from people who watch specifically, can he be a wide receiver? He can be a wide receiver. He’s a tier three,” said Smith.
Jeudy didn’t show up in the Broncos’ game against the Chiefs. He only caught 3 passes for 14 yards in the game and the Broncos suffered a 16-8 loss to their division rivals on Thursday.

Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy is on the trade block
It’s been nearly 4 years since the Broncos drafted Jerry Jeudy to be their wide receiver number 1. But the former Alabama wideout hasn’t proved he could be WR1 in Denver so far.
As previously mentioned, Jeudy hasn’t registered a single 1000-plus yards season. He has also never made a Pro Bowl or an All-Pro team. As a result, the Broncos are trying to move on from the 24-year-old pass catcher.
According to multiple reports, the Broncos are shopping Jeudy and teams like the Indianapolis Colts have already shown some interest in the talented pass catcher. The struggling Broncos could move on from Jeudy before the trade deadline.
