One of the biggest stories to come out on Thursday was the scuffle between the Denver Broncos wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and the Carolina Panthers great Steve Smith. Ahead of the week 6 game between the Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith slammed Jeudy and called him a tier-three wide receiver. Furthermore, Jeudy allegedly interrupted Smith when the former Carolina wideout was doing the NFL Network’s pregame show. And now, Smith has revealed why he didn’t confront Jeudy when he interrupted the show.
“When I used to play, I would engage and I love that. But right now, I’m 44 years old. I don’t need to have this drama and I also don’t need to have any problems on the sideline for me doing something that will jeopardize not just me but him,” Smith said about not confronting Jeudy in the TNF pregame show.
Furthermore, he also brought race into the picture to explain why he didn’t confront the 24-year-old wide receiver on national television. He said that he didn’t want to participate in “Black-on-Black crime”.
“One of the biggest problems we have in the media, especially as a young Black man, sometimes is Black-on-Black crime. I’m not gonna participate in that. I’m not gonna participate where the national media can see two African American men acting like we don’t got no sense. He didn’t like what I said and that’s fine. I wanted to talk to him. He didn’t like it, so we move on,” Smith said.

What is the beef between Steve Smith and Jerry Jeudy?
It all started on Thursday when Jerry Jeudy allegedly blew off Steve Smith ahead of the Chiefs-Broncos game. On NFL Network’s pregame show, Smith revealed that he went to talk to the Broncos receiver and apologize to him for referring to him as “JAG, just another guy.”

However, Jeudy allegedly disrespected Smith by saying, “I don’t mess with you” but with an expletive word. Smith, who felt disrespected by Jeudy’s words, went on to rip the Broncos wide receiver by calling him an average player and tier-3 wide receiver. Steve Smith also went on to say that Jerry Jeudy isn’t mentally able to accept constructive criticism.
Meanwhile, when the retired 5-time Pro Bowler was doing the pregame show, Jeudy could be seen dancing and yelling just behind Smith’s live shot, but the Panthers great took the high road by moving from the issue.
On the sporting side of things, Jeudy did not have a great day on the field as he only caught 3 passes for 14 yards in the Broncos’ 19-8 loss against the Chiefs in their week 6 game. With that loss, the Broncos now fell to 1-5 and are looking like the worst team in the league.
