The Miami Dolphins are currently in off-season mode trying to further strengthen their squad for the upcoming 2024 season. Amidst this, a new lawsuit has been filed in Miami alleging a Dolphins player of infecting his ex-girlfriend with sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

According to a new report from the Miami New Times, the lawsuit was filed in Miami in late 2023 alleging the Dolphins player. The unnamed player has been accused of infecting his then-girlfriend with genital herpes after failing to warn her about his infection.

According to the lawsuit, the victim claims after she noted lesions on her partner, the couple got tested for STIs. They both eventually tested positive for oral and genital herpes. The plaintiff claims the Dolphins player ‘owed a duty’ to his then-girlfriend to warn her about his infection or completely refrain from having intercourse with her.

The names on the online version of the complaint are reportedly redacted with black boxes and the Miami New Times refused to identify the player, who is currently facing the accusation, or the court venue. The outlet reported they would not reveal the names on the document out of respect for the victim’s privacy. The plaintiff, on the other side, filed the complaint anonymously and was referred to as ‘Jane Doe’ in the lawsuit.

Furthermore, the outlet reportedly reached out to the accused player’s lawyer about the complaint, but they declined to comment on the case. Nonetheless, he is not the first Dolphins player to be accused of such a crime.

Dolphins CB Xavien Howard was also faced similar accusations

Similar to the new lawsuit, the Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard also faced similar accusations back in 2022. A lawsuit filed by an anonymous woman claimed that Howard knowingly transmitted STI to her.

The woman sued Howard for more than $30,000. However, a couple of days after the lawsuit was filed, Howard denied the claims and filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit. Furthermore, the Dolphins’ former Pro Bowler also claimed that the woman who filed the lawsuit had trespassed on his property and spread false information about him.

Nevertheless, ‘Jane Doe’ ended up dropping her case back in March 2023. Howard’s lawyer took to social media to announce that the lawsuit against his client had been dropped by the accuser.

Later, Xavien Howard faced another lawsuit from a woman, who accused the Dolphins cornerback of filming and sharing s*x tapes without her consent. She sued him for more than $50,000.
