The 2023 NFL season has reached the final stage. The stage is set for the Patrick Mahomes‘ Kansas City Chiefs and the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers to battle it out in Las Vegas for the title. The exciting game between the two top teams has created a lot of buzz around the league. Amidst this, a new report reveals the Super Bowl LVIII ticket prices hit a record high as the average cost surpasses the $10,000 mark.
On TickPick, the average ticket price for the final battle was $9,815 on Monday morning. That is already almost double the final average ticket price for last year’s Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles in Glendale, Arizona. Although the current prices could decline.
The current average price is also higher than the previous record of $7,046 for the 2021 Super Bowl game between the Chiefs and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Tampa, Florida. That game happened during COVID times when the stadium was only at 33% capacity, which increased demand for every single ticket.
The cheapest ticket for this year’s game was $8,188 on Monday on TickPick, which is higher than the 5,997 low price at this stage last season. The Super Bowl is more than just a football game as there will be music performances from big stars at halftime.
Furthermore, there will be much more entertainment in the weeks heading to the big game. It is one of the biggest annual sporting events in the country for a reason and the tickets are always in demand.
TickPick CEO explains the reasons for rise in Super Bowl ticket prices
According to TickPick co-CEO Brett Goldberg, the location plays a huge part in demand for the Super Bowl tickets. Since this year’s big game is scheduled to take place in Las Vegas, people could spend a weekend there and enjoy other things before catching the Super Bowl.
Location has always impacted demand for a Super Bowl, but Vegas takes things to a whole other level. It’s already the entertainment capital of the world, and could very well become the sports capital of the world after the Super Bowl.Brett Goldberg told Associated Press
Other platforms, including StubHub, are also seeing a rise in demand, which leads to higher ticket prices. The prices are expected to decline in the coming days.
But, as of now, the average ticket price for the game between Brock Purdy’s Niners and Patrick Mahomes’ Chiefs costs nearly $10,000, a new record in Super Bowl ticket sales.
