Keegan-Michael Key is excited for the new NFL season as he celebrates the 104th season by launching their “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up” ad campaign. It pokes fun at memes over the years that suggest the league is scripted.

For the commercial, Key has an ensemble of several football players who are listed as ‘Actors.’ Notable names such as Kirk Cousins, Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Fields, Jalen Ramsey, and D. K. Metcalf, along with a few crew members, sat at a massive table. Patrick Mahomes, Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce, and Donna Kelce (the mother of the Kelce brothers) joined them through a video call.

Key goes around asking everyone what they can contribute to the conversation. Chase suggested he could possibly ride a Bengal Tiger for his next celebration when he scores a touchdown. A crew member added that someone should complete a no-handed catch. Metcalf promised to do it with his abs. However, the best part was when the Kelce family entered the frame. Key instantly framed a catchphrase: “Ab-ra-ca-gabra.”

Both the Kelce brothers, Jason and Travis, were in awe when their mother added her input. She suggested, “What if that Jimmy Garoppolo character fell in love with my character?”

Key appeared to like the idea as he tried to hype it up by saying, “Steamy! Forbidden love?” Travis, too, liked the idea of seeing his mama with the Las Vegas Raiders quarterback. “That’s a good-looking guy right there, Mom. I see where you’re going,” he added. However, his older brother, Jason, was in awe.

After hearing everyone’s suggestion, Key, who admires the Jaguars, asked them to look at the last page. They all turned to the last page and started applauding the comedian, who said,” You can’t make this stuff up!”

Players from different franchises joined in on the fun. The Cincinnati Bengals were asked if the NFL is scripted or not. Some of them refused to comment; a few, however, raised their eyebrows to signal suspicion.

The Baltimore Ravens players were divided. Some said it was 100% scripted, while others claimed it’s the player who controls the narrative.

NFL Chief Marketing Officer Tim Ellis said in a press release,” Our goal was to make this campaign humorous. We really wanted to have fun with this.” He hoped that fans would “get a kick out of the campaign.”
