The former Chicago Bears running back Tarik Cohen is trying to make a comeback in the league after missing out on the last two seasons due to constant injuries. Cohen, the former All-Pro back is planning to sign with the Carolina Panthers‘ practice squad according to multiple reports. Even though it’s not an active roster spot for now, it’s still a huge accomplishment for Cohen, who has missed multiple seasons due to knee injuries.
On Tuesday evening, the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported the news of Tarik Cohen signing with the Panthers. Carolina’s running back room is stacked as they currently have 3 backs on their active roster. Cohen will join 2 others on the Panthers squad and will try to make it to the active roster.
The Panthers’ number 1 option Myles Sanders, who joined the Carolina-based football team in the off-season had 72 rushing yards and 26 receiving yards in their season opener against the Atlanta Falcons. Furthermore, the Panthers’ number 2 back Chuba Hubbard carried the rock 9 times for 60 yards. So, Cohen will try to make it to the roster which is already stacked in the offensive backfield.
Nonetheless, the 28-year-old getting a second chance in the league after missing out on the last 2 seasons with injuries has fans excited on social media. Cohen will look to prove himself in the practice squad and make a comeback in the league.
Tarik Cohen had a promising start to his career
Tarik Cohen was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. Cohen had a great start to his NFL career but constant knee injuries put a halt to his dreams.
During his rookie year, Cohen played all 16 games and registered 370 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns. Apart from the ground game, Cohen also excelled as a receiving back as he registered 353 receiving yards and 1 receiving TD in his rookie campaign.
