Taylor Lewan, who has been the cornerstone of the Tennessee Titans offensive line for the last 9 years, was released by them on Thursday along with the wide receiver Robert Woods and kicker Randy Bullock. After his release, the 3-time Pro Bowler spoke about being let go by the team he played for almost a decade.
During a recent episode of his podcast, Bussin’ With the Boys, Lewan expressed his feelings about being released. “I don’t want to get emotional… I was supposed to get cut Friday. And then and then I got moved to today. So when I found out yesterday, that was happening. I was really upset. And I was sad. And then I had a conversation with my wife last night, and today I woke up happy,” said Lewan.
Furthermore, Taylor Lewan also went on to claim that he was extremely proud of his 9-year-long career with the Titans and that he is grateful for the times he spent with the Tennessee-based football team. “I’m extremely proud of the career that I’ve had for the times. And I am extremely grateful for being a part of the Tennessee Titans for as long as I have,” said Lewan.
Taylor Lewan was drafted as the 11th overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft by the Titans. After overcoming his initial struggles in the league, the left tackle went on to have 3 consecutive Pro Bowl seasons. And in 2018, Lewan signed a 5-year $80 million contract with the Titans with an annual salary of 16 million dollars, the highest-ever contract for an offensive lineman at that time.
Taylor Lewan ponders future in the league

The Titans cut their star offensive lineman Taylor Lewan and cleared about 14.8 million dollars in 2023 cap space. Although Lewan is upset by the Titans’ decision to release him, the 6’7″ lineman is now thinking about his future home in the league.
“I would not go play for an AFC South team,” said Lewan, who spent nine years in the division with the Titans. “I know the Bengals need a left tackle, so I can… I’ll put some weight on for the boys. But I don’t want to turn this into like where I am going to play next, like let the body get cold with the Titans fans.”
There are plenty of teams in the league that are in dire need of a good left tackle. So that will make the premium OT Taylor Lewan, a well-sought-after player in the upcoming free agency.
