The Cincinnati Bengals are on a roll. After losing three of their first four games, they have now won their next four games and are looking like a proper contender. It seems like QB Joe Burrow has completely recovered from his offseason calf injury and WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins have benefitted the most from it. The Bengals have beaten some great teams en route to a 5-3 record and are the most in-form team in the league right now.
Bengals’ next game is against the Houston Texans on Sunday. The Texans have been the surprise team of the season so far. With rookie QB C.J. Stroud, the Texans have a 4-4 record. First-year head coach, DeMeco Ryans has had a brilliant season so far.
Stroud is breaking records already and is on pace to win the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. They will be a tough team to beat for the Bengals, especially with one of their main weapons, Tee Higgins sidelined due to an injury.
Higgins reportedly suffered a hamstring injury on Wednesday and did not practice the rest of the week. Head coach Zac Taylor confirmed that Higgins was ruled out of the game this Sunday against the Texans.
He (Tee Higgins)'s not going to play this week.
The Bengals will play the Baltimore Ravens next week on Thursday in a crucial AFC North clash. They will need the services of Higgins for that particular game. Taylor, though, isn’t concerned about next week.
I don't really care about next week right now.
So far this season, Higgins has 27 receptions for 328 yards and two touchdowns. Much like the Bengals, the wideout had a slow start to the season but was instrumental in beating the Buffalo Bills last Sunday. Against the Bills, Higgins accumulated 8 receptions for 110 yards and helped the Bengals secure a crucial win.
Carolina Panthers reportedly went after Tee Higgins at the trade deadline
The Carolina Panthers are 1-8 this season. They have the worst record in the league and were desperately looking to add some pieces at the trade deadline. Panthers’ GM Scott Fitterer reportedly ‘went after’ the Cincinnati Bengals’ WR Tee Higgins and Las Vegas Raiders’ WR Davante Adams, but couldn’t get a deal done.
According to David Newton of ESPN, the Panthers
went after the Bengals’ Higgins and elite receiver Davante Adams of the Las Vegas Raiders before the trade deadline, according to an NFL front office source with knowledge of discussions, but neither team was willing to deal.
Higgins is a huge part of the Bengals’ offense. The receiver is in the final year of his rookie contract and does not intend to extend in the middle of the 2023 NFL season. He signed a four-year, $8.6 million contract and will be a free agent in 2024.
