Looks like Tee Higgins isn’t ready to spend another season with the Cincinnati Bengals. He reportedly requested a trade this offseason, shortly after the franchise tagged him.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported the Bengals’ wide receiver is disappointed by the franchise due to their lack of progress on a contract extension that’s why he has requested a trade. The 25-year-old joined the Bengals in 2020.

Higgins loves Cincinnati and hoped to be with the team long term, but is disappointed that the team has not had any talks about a long-term contract extension since March 2023. He’s ready to move on to a new home.

The Bengals recently tagged Higgins for $21.8 million for the upcoming season. Although the trade is not guaranteed, it does give fans a perspective of Higgins’ current situation with the franchise ahead of the 2024 offseason.

If the receiver decides to enter free agency, he is likely to be the No. 1 prospect for the NFL teams, though it surely wouldn’t be cheap. Higgins is ranked second in the league’s premier receivers, right behind all-world receiver Ja’Marr Chase. In his first two seasons with the franchise, the Clemson product caught 74 passes and cleared 1,000 yards.

What are the potential landing spots for Tee Higgins?

Even though the Bengals haven’t made any official statements regarding wide receiver Tee Higgins’ trade yet, his chances are quite high now that he has officially asked for the trade. Given his high potential, he is likely to be the starting WR at any team he goes.

When it comes to his potential landing spots, the New England Patriots are most likely to pursue Higgins and could cook up a satisfactory contract courtesy of their $82.7 million in cap space. They are also likely to draft a quarterback this upcoming NFL Draft using their third-overall pick. Pairing the rookie with a star receiver such as Higgins could be their way to bring back their era of dominance.

Another team likely to go after Higgins may be the Carolina Panthers, the Patriots are the favorite. He finished the last season with 42 receptions, 656 yards, and 5 touchdowns in the 12 games he played.
