Terrell Owens is one of the most prominent wide receivers of all time. The former San Francisco 49ers wideout had memorable moments throughout his 15-year-long career. One such moment occurred during his fifth year in the league, back in 2000. It was when the Niners traveled East to face the Dallas Cowboys during the 2000 regular season. Owens angered the Cowboys fans with his disrespect.
During a regular season game between the 49ers and the Cowboys, star wide receiver Terrell Owens caught a touchdown pass. He then ran straight toward the Cowboys star in the center of the field to celebrate the touchdown. The Dallas fans and players were caught off guard by Owen’s disrespectful celebration.
However, when the then-27-year-old pass catcher daringly disrespected the Cowboys star, defensive back George Teague knew exactly what to do. He followed Owens to the center of the field and laid out the wide receiver in retaliation. At the time, Owens became one of the biggest villains in the league because of his disrespectful actions.
But he backed up his trash talk with his game. In that particular regular season game, Owens caught five passes for 51 yards and two touchdowns. Nonetheless, as a result of the chaos during the game, Teague was ejected from the contest. Moreover, Owens was suspended for a week by the 49ers because of his shenanigans.
That particular incident foreshadowed Owens’ career in the league very well, as he kept getting into trouble because of his off-field fiascos. Still, his on-field talent could not be denied. During his remarkable career, Owens received 6 Pro Bowl nods and 5 first-team All-Pro recognitions.

Terrell Owens didn’t ‘mean any disrespect’ to the Cowboys
More than two decades after angering the Cowboys fanbase with his disrespectful celebration, former 49ers wide receiver Terrell Owens recently claimed that he didn’t mean any disrespect with the way he celebrated.
“It was just one of those things,” Owens said back in January in an interview with 95.7 The Game’s “The Morning Roast”. “Me doing that celebration, it wasn’t meant as any disrespect to the Cowboys. It wasn’t meant to be taunting. Obviously, now people looking back on it, that’s what they see. At that time, when I was scoring touchdowns left and right, that was one of my calculated celebrations,” he said.
The explosive wideout escaped the wrath of the Cowboys nation after he joined them in 2006. He played three seasons with the Dallas-based football team and registered three consecutive 1000+ receiving yards seasons. After his successful three year tenure in Dallas, Terrell Owens had a couple of brief one-year stints with the Buffalo Bills and the Cincinnati Bengals before eventually retiring in 2012.
