“He had hip surgery!” Ex-Steelers QB Terry Bradshaw admits feeling bad for Andy Reid after heated altercation with Travis Kelce during Super Bowl

Terry Bradshaw spent 14 years in the NFL, never putting his hand with former Steelers head coach Chuck Noll. So when the four-time Super Bowl champion witnessed Travis Kelce screaming at Andy Reid during the Super Bowl 58, it made him sad.

With CBS Sports hosting the Las Vegas event in 2024, Bradshaw’s season ended early. He was also absent from FOX’s NFC Championship coverage last month due to illness as per Awful Announcing. As a result, he watched both games from the confines of his home.

The 75-year-old made a special guest appearance on Thursday’s episode of the Rich Eisen Show and spoke on various topics. One of which was Travis Kelce’s alleged sideline push by Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid. Bradshaw revealed that it could have been dire for the team because of the condition Reid was in.

But he observed that contrary to popular belief, the All-Pro tight end did push his head coach. Rather, it was just coming together. Bradshaw added:

[Travis] Kelce didn’t push him; he went over and accidentally bumped him; I don’t think he pushed him or anything. It was an accident, but it looked bad on television.

Now there isn’t much information about whether Reid had hip surgery, as Bradshaw mentioned. If that were the case and Kelce had accidentally pushed the 65-year-old, toppling over could have caused serious injuries.

Being one of the most watched TV broadcasts in history, almost every football fan witnessed Kelce’s altercation on the Chiefs sidelines. Fortunately, it did not come back to bite them in the back. The Chiefs won the game 25-22 with a slight help from the San Francisco 49ers wrong overtime call. 

Bradshaw told Eisen that as soon as the game wrapped up, he texted Reid to find out what happened in the middle of the game. He revealed that Reid’s reply was instantaneous, and he was a bit surprised by what he had written.

Kelce felt bad, and it’s over. They won the football game.

Perhaps winning the game overshadowed the incident. If Kyle Shanahan hadn’t chosen to kick instead of receive during the overtime coin toss, then maybe the 49ers would have won the game. But as the Chiefs managed to secure a victory, analysts and fans alike chose to ignore it as just another minor sideline squabble and focus on enjoying the Super Bowl win.
