The NFL 2023 offseason has seen plenty of big-money moves with regard to players moving onto newer chapters of their lives through trades or free-agent signings. Speculations are a regular thing during the offseason and rumor has it that Houston Texans general manager, Nick Caserio, is also going to be on the move very soon.
According to various reports, Caserio would leave the Texans after the NFL draft and make a return to his former franchise, the New England Patriots, for a second spell. However, the manager who joined Houston only in 2021 on a six-year contract has quashed all claims of looking for an exit from the franchise.
Speaking in a pre-draft press conference, Caserio addressed the rumors himself, even before the reporters could ask him any questions on the imminent subject. In his response, he made a sneaky remark about a very popular scene from Hollywood actor, Leonardo DiCaprio‘s famous film, The Wolf of Wall Street.
Nick Caserio is all set to stay on with the Houston Texans despite rumors
The film, released in 2013, had a particular scene where Dicaprio had to ensure his employees that he wasn’t going to leave the company, despite various legal troubles that he had to face. Caserio quoted the famous saying “I’m not leaving,” while addressing his future with the Texans.
“Honestly, I feel like Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, but I’m not leaving,” said Caserio on Monday in the statement. “There’s never really been any substantive discussions of the sort.”
“I feel like I have an obligation to make that statement and really try to stay ahead of,” he said. “I mean, I don’t think there’s really anything else to talk about or say, any question about it.”
“Unfortunately, I think this time of year there’s a lot of information and a lot of topics that are discussed. Some are more accurate than others, and I think it transcends multiple landscapes.”
The Houston Texans have the most number of picks in the NFL draft this season. They have each of their own picks in Rounds 1 through 5, alongside the first and third-round picks from Cleveland Browns, courtesy of the Deshaun Watson trade last season.
With a new head coach in the form of DeMeco Ryans, general manager Nick Caserio will look to make impactful picks to improve the roster ahead of the grueling 2023/24 NFL season.
