The Alabama Crimson Tide football team has been the gold standard of college football for many years. Under head coach Nick Saban, the team had a record of 52-1 in their last 53 regular season games. However, the Crimson Tide suffered a shocking defeat against the Texas Longhorns yesterday. The Longhorns pulled off a 34-24 win against Saban’s men.
Before Saturday’s 34-24 victory over No. 3 Alabama, Texas’ Head coach Steve Sarkisian spoke about throwing haymakers while standing in the center. The Longhorns’ coach took a lighthearted dig at the Crimson Tide. Sarkisian delivered his final blow when Holly Rowe questioned the former Alabama offensive coordinator about the win away from home.
“Well, I didn’t want to tell the guys that they were 52-1 in their last 53 games, so I guess they are 52-2 now,” Sarkisian said in the post-game interview. Quinn Ewers, the Texas quarterback also spoke with Rowe on the pitch. Ewers commended his coach and praised him for preparing the team as best as possible.
Alabama will play the South Florida Bulls in their next game on September 16 and will hope to bounce back in that game. The Longhorns will host the Wyoming Cowboys later that day, and they will look to build on their impressive 2-0 start.
Matthew McConaughey wildly celebrates Steve Sarkisian-led Texas Longhorns’ TD against Alabama
Matthew McConaughey is a lifelong Texas Longhorns fan. He has attended almost every big Longhorns game for several years now. So it wasn’t a surprise to see him at the stadium during the Longhorns’ win against the Alabama Crimson Tide yesterday.
NFL analyst and former player Pat McAfee interviewed McConaughey during the game. While the interview was going on, Longhorns’ QB Quinn Ewers threw a perfect long pass for a TD. McConaughey and others went wild as their reactions were captured live as the play happened. McConaughey excitedly commented after the play like a die-hard fan.
The Longhorns defeated the Crimson Tide 34-24 in Alabama. They will take on the Wyoming Cowboys and look to keep this win streak in their next game at home. It’s fair to say that McConaughey enjoyed that a lot.
