“That’s BULLSH*T!”: Colts owner Jim Irsay shuts down reporter’s theory of team tanking after the shock hiring of Jeff Saturday

There has been a lot of rumours going around NFL team Indianapolis Colts trying to tank their season after a series of surprising decisions by the club’s management. One of the things that has turned heads is the firing of former head coach Frank Reich.
In addition they have decided to appoint NFL center and television analyst Jeff Saturday as their new interim head coach. Star quarterback Matt Ryan has been benched as well in a string of decisions which has left people stunned.
Amidst all of this former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky has said that Colts owner Jim Irsay has a history of tanking – “The reality is that he wants his quarterback and he wants to do everything he can to be in as good a position as possible to go get that one.”

Jim Irsay declares it’s not in the Indianapolis Colts mentality to tank
Jim Irsay seemed quite offended by the rumours of the Indianapolis Colts tanking and did not mince his words to express his frustration over the topic. Irsay said that it’s the ‘most absurd’ thing he has ever heard and that they are doing everything possible to win. He added that it’s not in the Colts nature to tank.
“That’s the most absurd thing I’ve ever heard, that we’re tanking,” Irsay said. “That’s bulls–t. We’re in this thing; 9-7-1 get us in, no question about it. … We’re not tanking the season. Whoever says these things, that we’re not playing because [of an effort to tank], that’s all bulls–t. That’s not true. … We’re going to do what it takes to win. I don’t know who people think we are, they don’t know us. We don’t tank in Indianapolis.”
Speaking on the quarterback issue for the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Irsay said that they wanted to have their options open. He even revealed that General Manager Chris Ballard wanted to name Sam Ehlinger as their quarterback of the year, he didn’t want to do so and suggested to utilise all three options.
“When [GM] Chris [Ballard], Frank and I decided to go with Sam, Frank wanted to name him quarterback for the year, but I told them, ‘Look, we have three quarterbacks; we need to use them all to win this year,” Irsay said. “If we decide to make a change, we’ll make a change. It’s not something we’re locked into. We’re going with Sam with his mobility and his playmaking ability since we’re struggling in [pass] protection and moving the ball, that’s what we all decided to do.“
