The Green Bay Packers made huge strides this season. They have wasted no time in improving their roster just a week after the team’s narrow loss to the San Francisco 49ers. The team fired defensive coordinator Joe Barry and now risk losing one of their stars on defense, cornerback Jaire Alexander.

In a cryptic post online, Alexander penned a heartfelt message to his fans in Green Bay. Based on the wording, it seemed like a message a player usually sends when leaving the team. Here’s what Jaire Alexander had to say to Packer nation.

Thank you God. Thank you Lambeau, for 6 years. Thank you to those who showed love throughout my journey.

The timing of the message is odd because Alexander has consistently performed well on the Packers’ defense. He had one of the most pivotal plays in the Wildcard Round when he caught an interception on Dak Prescott.

The Green Bay Packers made the playoffs with a 9-8 record this season. The season also saw Jordan Love taking the reigns after replacing legendary QB Aaron Rodgers. The Packers stunned everyone when they dominated the Dallas Cowboys in the Wildcard round. The future looks bright for the Packers, but it will look even brighter with Jaire Alexander remaining with the team.

Many questions arose after the Instagram post from Jaire Alexander. Are the Packers trading him and moving on from him voluntarily, or is he the one requesting to be traded from the team? The first instance seems unlikely, as the team signed him to a 4-year contract worth $84 million. It keeps him in Lambeau through the 2026 season.

However, his contract has a clause allowing him to opt out in 2025. Alexander was a Pro Bowler in the 2020 and 2022 seasons and has also made the Second-team All-Pro in those years. The only reason the Packers would want to trade him would be owing to his injury history.

He has been a liability for the team as he lacks consistency on that front. In 2021, he played in just four games. In 2022, he managed to play in 16 games, and this season, he could play seven games because of a shoulder injury. This could be the sole reason for the Packers to consider trading him. Despite the injury history, the Packers could benefit greatly when Alexander is on the field healthy.
