Tom Brady had won 6 Super Bowl titles with the formidable New England Patriots. The QB was looking for a new challenge and the Bucs came knocking.

Bruce Arians was senior consultant of the Bucs and former head coach took notice of the situation and quickly jumped at the opportunity to sign the 6 time Super Bowl winner. Tom Brady himself had many options after the 2019 season but he choose to offer his services at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers making it one of the most controversial moves of the decade.

In a recent interview, Bruce Arians were asked about the situation to which replied that he couldn’t believe that Tom Brady would leave the Patriots. “It shocked me that he was able to leave New England,” Arians said of Brady. “Then, when you look at Drew Brees, Philip Rivers and Tom Brady all becoming free agents, you are like, ‘No way.’

The Bucs and head coach Bruce Arians were also looking at two other QBs who were becoming free agents, Drew Brees and Philip Rivers. The Bucs got lucky that Tom Brady became available last minute and they didn’t need to go for the other two options.

“So you have to do your due diligence.” Bruce Arians stated. “You have to do your homework. The guy can still really play! … We hit it off. We got lucky.”

Tom Brady signed for the Bucs following the 2019 season and was later followed by his teammate Rob Gronkowski who also let the Patriots join the Bucs. Brady helped the Bucs win a Super Bowl showing that the 43-year-old was still at the top of his game.

At 45 years old Brady is still setting records each year, he threw for career-high 5,316 passing yards and managed to get 43 touchdowns. He was also rated as the No.1 player on the NFL top 100 players list.

Though there are some personal concerns for Tom Brady as he just took 11 days off from the training camp for the first time citing personal issues. When Bruce Arians was asked about this he said it’s personal and didn’t comment on the situation.
