Tua Tagovailoa the quarterback for the Miami dolphins event needed to be carried off in a stretcher after suffering a second head injury in a week in a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Paragraph
Tagovailoa who was selected in the first round of the 2020 NFL by the Miami Dolphins was a star quarterback at the University of Alabama and won the College Football National Championship with now New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll as the offensive coordinator. It was only natural for Daboll to be asked what he thought about the star QB’s injury. The handling of said injury by the Dolphins has been questioned by former and current players from across the league and even the coaches for the handling of the injuries sustained by Tagovailoa.
“He means a lot to me.” Brian Daboll on Tua Tagovailoa injury
Many around the league are questioning whether Tua should have been on the field for this game against the Bengals where he suffered what looked like a scary injury and even needed to be carried off on a stretcher. The need for this question lies in the fact that Tua sustained a hit to the head in the last game against the Buffalo Bills that many believe was a concussion. When Daboll was asked about his former college QB, an emotional Daboll per New York Post said –“He means a lot to me. Special kid, great family, and it was tough.”
When asked whether Tua’s injury inspires him to be more careful with any such injury with his team and if he will think twice about it Daboll said-“I think every decision is different. I don’t really think about them as players. I know I’m a coach, but … they’re not too far off from my kids. Anytime a guy gets hurt, just prayers for him, his family, and the people around him.”
Daboll hasn’t talked to Tua and his family out of “respect for him, his family, their space.” but he plans to do so.
Dolphins have been panned by the NFL world and might face an inquiry about it as demanded by the NFLPA. For now, Tua Tagovailoa is recovering and our prayers are with him and his family.
