Same sex parents are something which is quite common nowadays in the new world. However this was not the case back in the 80’s and 90’s when they had to face a lot of discrimination and hardships from the society.
However that has not stopped Kate and Jen from raising a lovely family with five kids with one of them now poised to be drafted in the upcoming NFL draft. Trey McBride from Colorado State University might well become the first player in NFL history to have same sex parents.

Trey McBride has been exceptional in the last season and was leading in both receptions (90) and yards (1,121) in Division 1. Additionally he also won the John Mackey Award. For him it’s not unusual to have same-sex parents and is just normal. He was appreciative of his parents and talked about their sacrifices to give him this platform.
“They’ve done a great job of pushing me to be the best version of myself and just constantly giving support and love,” Trey McBride said on the The Tonight Show.
Jen and Kate talked about their experience of raising kids as same sex parents. Jen talked about fearing that their kids will be bullied at school and while he was at Colorado State. Kate said that it was McBride’s dream to play in the NFL from his childhood and she’s happy he’s achieving it.
“You always worry about your kids,” Jen said. “Because we’re all kids. We know how kids are. But the main thing is with them is, be confident in who you are. You come from a family that every single one of us are in your corner, no matter what, anytime in the day. So, nobody really talked about bullying.”
“I’m excited to see him just live his dream,” Kate said. “When your kid comes to you when they’re little and they say they want to be president, you’re like, ‘OK, honey, that’s great.’ He wanted to play in the NFL, and he’s going to do it.”
