“This is a PERSONAL ATTACK!”: Texas A&M athletics director Ross Bjork calls on the SEC for disciplining Alabama coach Nick Saban

Ross Bjork

Alabama coach Nick Saban unleashed a furious series of comments against the hiring of Texas A&M’s recruiting system. He said that that Texas A &M managed to buy every player in the No.1 recruiting class whereas Alabama weren’t able to buy even one.

Saban proceeded to point out that the use of NIL deals in recruiting remains prohibited under NCAA rules if there is a direct “pay-to-play” offer being made. He says that teams [pointing to Alabama] which ton of money are getting the advantage.

Texas A&M athletics director Ross Bjork takes offense to Nick Saban’s comments

Texas A&M athletics director Ross Bjork has not taken Nick Saban’s comments in a light manner. He has called upon the SEC to review what Saban has said about Texas A &M and asked them to discipline the Alabama coach.

Furthermore Texas A&M Coach Fischer also called a press conference to respond to what Nick Saban has said. He unloaded a barrage of comments on Saban going to heights of calling the latter a ‘narcissist’.

“I don’t know why Nick Saban would say what he said except he’s threatened,” Bjork said. “There is a saying … an emperor who loses their dynasty lashes out. He seems to be making excuses. This is personal. Coach Fisher views this as a personal attack on his integrity and on Texas A&M’s integrity. … To have personal attacks, to say that the only reason A&M is [recruiting well] is NIL money is wrong.”

There are sportsmanship bylaws in the SEC,” Bjork said in an interview with Sports Illustrated. “We believe Coach Saban violated those bylaws. Everyone knows NIL is here to stay. We’ve embraced it. We have all the tools and technology. We are educating our athletes and boosters. There is all kinds of awareness here. The part that is frustrating is to say NIL is the only reason kids are choosing our program. That is hypocritical and I don’t know why we are the target.
