National Football League (NFL) team the Tennessee Titans drafted in quarterback Malik Willis in the recently concluded 2022 NFL draft. He will be competing against Ryan Tannehil to become the starting quarterback.
Ryan Tannehil has come under some criticism after some comments he made about Malik Willis. When Ryan Tannehil was asked whether he would be guiding Malik Willis, he said that he’s not Willis’s mentor and that he can learn from him along the way.
Colin Cowherd defends Ryan Tannehil
Ryan Tannehil has been criticised heavily after the comments that he made on social media platforms. “We’re competing against each other, we’re watching the same tape, we’re doing the same drills, I don’t think it’s my job to mentor him, but if he learns from me along the way then that’s a great thing,” said Tannehil.
However NFL analyst Colin Cowherd has defended quarterback Ryan Tannehil. Colin Cowherd said that Ryan Tannehil wasn’t being mean to the newly drafted in Willis and that he too was fighting for the starting quarterback position.
“Ryan Tannehill took a lot of heat today, and it’s important that you hear the soundbite to listen to the tone. Sometimes you’ll see words written down and think it sounds harsh. There’s no emoji for sarcasm, and 10-12% of America doesn’t even get sarcasm, so ‘tone’ matters. This was not mean-spirited by Ryan Tannehill. He’s not taking a shot at the quarterback the Titans just drafted, Malik Willis,” said Cowherd.
“Ryan Tannehill is fighting for his life and fighting for his career. He just lost a home playoff game and admitted he had to go to therapy. He’s fighting for his career, it’s not his job to develop his replacement.”
