The Tennessee Titans shocked the entire league by trading up eight spots to draft the Kentucky QB Will Levis in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, Levis will only fight for the backup QB spot now with Malik Willis as the Titans have firm trust ring their franchise QB Ryan Tannehill to lead their team in the upcoming season per reports.

During a recent episode of the ESPN show NFL Live, insider Diana Russini claims the 34-year-old quarterback Ryan Tannehill will be the starting QB for the Titans in 2023.

“Ryan Tannehill is the starter Week 1, that’s what I was told, this is his team, he’s the guy. Drafting Will Levis, obviously this team is looking towards the future knowing that Ryan Tannehill will be playing on an expiring contract, and this is his last year in Tennessee,” said Russini.

Will Levis was considered a top 5 prospect coming into the 2023 NFL Draft. However, for some reason, he slid out of the first round. The Titans traded with the Arizona Cardinals to acquire Levis with the 33rd pick in the draft.

The trade-up to draft a quarterback was heavily criticized by the Titans fans on social media, especially since they did a similar kind of thing just a year ago. The Tennessee-based football team traded up to draft QB Malik Willis in the third round of the 2022 Draft. It seems like Willis hasn’t shown enough potential since they selected Levis with an early second-round pick this year.

Will Levis will likely be the backup QB for the Titans in the 2023 season

After drafting Will Levis in the 2023 draft, the Titans head coach Mike Vrabel claimed that Levis will start as the third-string QB in the depth charts behind Ryan Tannehill and the 2022 third-round draft pick Malik Willis.

However, it seems like Levis will eventually end up as the backup QB before the start of the upcoming season. Some reports suggest the Titans are already looking to move from Malik Willis since he hasn’t shown any flashes.

Ryan Tannehill is entering the last year of his contract with the Titans. If he performs at a very high level, he might get another contract, but it looks like Tannehill will likely be out of Tennessee after the 2023 season, and either Levis or Willis would end up taking over the starting QB job.
