The Tennessee Titans just finished one of the massive collapses in NFL history as they lost 7 consecutive games and missed to clinch a playoff spot after starting their season with a strong record of 7-and-3. Furthermore, the Titans parted ways with their general manager Jon Robinson, in December after he spent seven years with the team.
And now, the off-season started early for the Tennessee-based franchise as they’ve already replaced their old GM. The Titans introduced Ran Carthon as their new general manager on Friday. Carthon was a former running back who played collegiate ball at the University of Florida. After college, he signed with the Indianapolis Colts as an undrafted free agent and played nine NFL games for them.
Carthon was waived by the Colts after two seasons and never played another snap in NFL again. However, he has enjoyed relative success in his career at the front office. He first started his front office career when he joined the Atlanta Falcons as a pro scout in 2008. Carthon spent five years with the Rams as their director of player personnel before accepting a job in the same role with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. Finally, he has reached a top position as a GM with the Tennessee Titans.

Titans new GM Ran Carthon dreamed about becoming an NFL GM

During his introduction on Friday, Ran Carthon revealed some juicy stuff about how his now-wife almost dumped him for saying that he wants to be a general manager in the NFL.
“She later told me she almost stopped dating me because she never met somebody that lived in La La Land,” Carthon told the media during his introduction as the new GM of the Tennessee Titans. “But honey, today that dream comes true, and we’re realizing that world that we’ve put in.”
Carthon becomes the first Black general manager in franchise’s history and he says that he doesn’t really think about it like that. “I don’t go out seeking to be the first black anything. I just want to be the best me. I’m very prideful. I just wanna be the best… I don’t care if it’s black, I don’t care if it’s white, I just wanna be the best,” said Carthon.
The new GM will have a lot of time to build this team for the next season and if rumors about the Titans being interested in pursuing Tom Brady are true, the Carthon would everything in his power to get that deal done.
