It’s official! The Tennessee Titans are signing free agent running back Tony Pollard for the 2024 NFL season, this offseason. But there’s a twist: Pollard will be joining as the starting running back, in other words, Derrick Henry’s replacement, and fans aren’t happy with that.
The Titans first eyed star running back Henry but couldn’t cook up a satisfactory deal so they had to move to the next big game in the free agency market– Tony Pollard. In his last two seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Pollard posted over 1,000 yards consecutively in 2022 and 2023.
The next phase of the elite RB begins with the Tennessee Titans, replacing both Henry and the backfield mate of Tyjae Spears. The franchise has reportedly offered him a three-year contract deal worth $24 million, via Josina Anderson.
A source close to Dianna Russini revealed the Titans aren’t the only ones interested in Pollard. The New York Giants and Minnesota Vikings also eyed him. But the elite running back chose the Titans due to their satisfactory offer.
Perhaps Henry’s reign would begin elsewhere, whomever he chose this offseason as he decided not to sign the contract extension after eight nominal years together.
