“Titles are titles”, Patriots QB Mac Jones ECSTATIC on receiving his first NFL captaincy stint for the 2022 NFL season

The Patriots will be beginning their latest NFL season with a crackerjack of a contest against the Miami Dolphins. Head coach, Bill Belichick announced six team captains for the upcoming season on Wednesday at the Palm Beach Atlantic University. The latest addition to the list was none other than Mac Jones.

Entering only his second season, a beefed-up Mac Jones was awarded the team captaincy for the first time in his career. Mac Jones was phenomenal in the preceding edition of the tournament and his noteworthy accountability of his team’s attacking unit alongside an eye for brilliance, got him the all-prestigious captaincy alongside six-time skipper David Andrews as the offensive leads.

Talking about the newly earned captaincy, Jones quoted, “I think it’s really cool. I have a lot of work to do. I want to become an even better leader, and I think we have great guys around us that make everything better.”

He further talked about his process of leading the team as he said, “I’m going to learn from the older guys like I did when I first got here and continue to do that. Hopefully, some of the younger guys can come to me with issues or things they want to get fixed or things they are struggling with, and I’ll be happy to help anyone on our team.”

During the training camp, Jones set the bar pretty high about himself. He was taking the calls, asking his teammates to iron out the kinks and at the same time was setting the precedents right. His coach Bill Belichick seemed mighty impressed with the young lad.

WR Jakobi Meyers was very appreciative of Jones being named as the skipper, citing, “His leadership has been crazy this year. He’s always in the building, and he knows what he wants. It’s been helpful for us. We are just trying to make sure we are there for him.”

However, Jones also shared a different perspective, stating, “Titles are titles. Really good leaders lead no matter what. If they’re the number one guy or not, it doesn’t matter. They’re good leaders. I think it’s great, but you just have to be yourself, and that’s what is important to me.”

He also laid the footprints of what lay ahead of him, as he concluded, “I just need to continue to grow and try to figure out how to get better as a player, as a leader, and as a person. It comes with time, experience, and learning lessons,” Jones added before Wednesday’s practice.”
