“We got outcoached and outplayed,” Bucs HC Todd Bowles gives HONEST admission after the team’s blowout loss against the 49ers

After a blowout loss against the San Francisco 49ers, Bucs head coach Todd Bowles took to the podium and took some responsibility for such a humiliating loss. During the post-match press conference, Bowles honestly assessed the Buccaneers’ horrible performance on Sunday.
Bowles said that the team played badly in all phases, “We got our asses kicked, we got outcoached and outplayed,” said Bowles to the media. He added that they were beating themselves with devastating penalties, making the game even harder against the already good 49ers team. “You can’t beat two teams, we are beating the Niners and we’re beating ourselves,” said Bowles.
When asked about making changes in playcalling, Bowles responded that it is way too late in the season for a flat-out change, but they always tweak things. He also praised the 49ers’ head coach Kyle Shanahan and their running back Christian McCaffery, saying they did a great job.
Bowles ended the press conference with a message to the team saying they have to decide what kind of team they want to be. He said that they cannot be an up-and-down team if they are going to accomplish the goal. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently sitting at the top of the NFC South division, but things are getting heated after the Carolina Panthers‘ victory against the Seattle Seahawks, as they are now just one game behind the Bucs in the NFC South division title race.
Buccaneers fans are fed up with Todd Bowles
Tampa Bay Buccaneers fans are starting to get tired of their head coach Todd Bowles and offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich. The Bucs are currently having one of the worst offensive seasons in the team’s history and fans believe it is due to the cowardly decisions of Todd Bowles and abysmal playcalling from Leftwich. Check out some of the reactions against Bowles after the Bucs’ loss to the 49ers.
Todd Bowles took over the head coaching position at Tampa bay after Bruce Arians’ retirement. Bowles had previously coached New York Jets for four seasons from 2015 to 2018. Bowles has come under a lot of criticism recently for his defensive mindset and conservative decision-making. Bucs fans have enjoyed big-scoring games and plenty of fireworks in the past two seasons. But under Bowles, it’s a completely different story.
The Bucs are ranked #28 out of #32 NFL teams in points per game this season, whereas last season they ranked #2 out of #32 NFL teams in the same category. Seeing their team go from one of the best teams in the NFL to a miserable .462 team after 13 weeks, the frustrated fans are now calling for the heads of Todd Bowles and Byron Leftwich.
Firing Bowles might not be an option for the Buccaneers right now since they are still in playoff contention. Although even if he gets to the playoff this year, the team might move on from him before next season. And with an NFL head coaching record of 32 wins and 48 losses, it will be tough for Bowles to land another head coaching job in the league.
