Tom Brady is having one of the roughest seasons in 20-plus years long NFL career, yet he and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers somehow managed to clinch the NFC South division, thus confirming their trip to the NFL postseason.

The Buccaneers were in an offensive slump for the majority of the season as they have just managed to score more than 30 points just twice this season. The 45-year-old Brady had to carry the load of the Bucs’ offense since their running game is nonexistent. The Tampa-based football team ranks dead last in the NFL in the rushing yards per game category.

As a result of this, Brady leads the league in passing attempts with 716 pass attempts and he needs just 12 pass attempts to break Matthew Stafford’s single-season passing attempts (727) record. The veteran QB is second in the league in the passing yards category trailing behind the MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes. In brief, The Bucs had a massive loss of production in their offense from the 2021 season.

The Bucs lead the league last season in offensive points per game when they scored an average of 29.29 PPG. In this season, so far, they are scoring at an average of 18.06 PPG (23rd best in the NFL). Despite all these offensive struggles, Brady and the 8-8 Bucs somehow clinched the 4th seed and will face the Falcons in week 18 with nothing to gain.

While many people believe that Brady and some of the other star players should sit out in this game, The 7-time Super Bowl champion does not want to sit out and says there are no meaningless games in football.

As soon as the Buccaneers defeated the Panthers and sealed their playoff spot, the fans and experts started to demand the Bucs HC Todd Bowles that their star players shouldn’t play and risk any injuries in the meaningless week 18 game against the Falcons.

However, Brady has expressed his desire to start in the game. Speaking in the press conference ahead of their final regular season game, The Bucs QB said they are trying to gain progress every day and the best way to do it is by playing in the games instead of just sitting out.

Brady also acknowledged the potential but he said that there are injury risks at every game they play since football is a contact sport. “There are risks every time we play the sport and if you sit out this and then you go out there and the first play of the game, you get hurt too,” said Brady about the injury risks. “You would like to limit exposure?…. well, what you’re always trying to do is improve as a football team that should be the priority. How do you improve and get better? Do you sit? Do you play?

Brady will likely start the game and will check out of the game within the start of the second quarter and he would likely break Matthew Stafford’s single-season passing attempts record in week 18 against the Atlanta Falcons.
