When many people are picking their favorite Lamar Jackson for the upcoming AFC championship, there’s one who didn’t leave Patrick Mahomes’ side and that’s Tom Brady. The NFL legend gave high praise to the Kansas City Chiefs’ star quarterback ahead of the mega-conference championship.

Contrary to the fact that the Baltimore Ravens are favored to win Sunday’s game, Brady talked about how tough it would be for them to beat the reigning Super Bowl champion. He also complimented Mahomes’ ability to show his best form when his team needs him, at big moments.

Brady said on the recent episode of Let’s Go! Podcast:

He's an incredible competitor, and I think it's on display in the biggest moments. So, everyone, I got a lot of questions before the game. 'What do you think? It's at Buffalo.' I said, with a guy like Patrick...it doesn't faze him. He doesn't care that it's in Buffalo. He wants to got out and play whoever's the best to see how he matches up. And he always seems to play his best in the big moments.

As Brady highlighted one or two of his many talents, he also recalled his last season in the NFL, when his team, Tampa Bay Buccaneers was up against Mahomes and the Chiefs. The former NFL quarterback revealed, then, that Mahomes gave a tough competition and also a chance for his team to win. Brady added:

He, still in those moments, was giving his team a chance to win from his athletic ability, his tenacity, his competitiveness.

How Patrick Mahomes overcame a tough season to reach the Super Bowl

For a team that just came off winning the Super Bowl the previous year, Kansas City did not have their best performance this season, especially Mahomes. He recorded the lowest stats of his career, since 2019 by throwing 4,183 yards and 26 touchdowns. But whenever his team was on the verge of falling back, he stood strong.

In last Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes completed 17 out of 23 passes for 215 yards along with a couple of touchdowns. For the critical victory, the quarterback led his team’s offense on a 75-yard drive, that would be their winning touchdown.

And just like how Brady claimed Mahomes stood well for his team in tough moments, the star quarterback would get another opportunity to prove that as true on the coming Sunday.
