The New England Patriots have had the most rollercoaster-like season in the NFL. Apart from having a disappointing 4-12 record, the team’s future hangs in the balance as GM and HC Bill Belichick‘s future is uncertain. While there have been several reports that suggest Belichick’s tenure with the team is done, nothing official has come from Mr. Robert Kraft or the team.

Irrespective of the fact if Bill Belichick goes after this season or not, one thing is certain. His exit will not be as messy as Tom Brady‘s exit was. Rumors, media buzz, and a lot of external factors made the greatest quarterback in football’s exit from the team bitter.

As per reputed sources, Kraft is taking into account the lessons learned from the Tom Brady fiasco and this time, he does not want the HC and GM who led his team to multiple Super Bowls to be let go in a disgraceful manner. The owner is:

Conscientious of how the Tom Brady situation played out and wants to make sure Belichick's exit, whenever it comes, is handled the right way, making a firing highly unlikely.

Bill Belichick may not be fired by the Patriots despite the team’s horrific performance this season

So, does this mean fans will see Belichick back in action next season? Probably not. While his contract requires him to stay for one more year, there have been multiple moments throughout this season wherein it can be concluded that Robert Kraft is frustrated with Belichick and the direction in which the team is headed.

The organization will do everything to ensure the split with Belichick happens in the most amicable manner without any room for bad blood. Well, at the least, they will ensure the split is portrayed as being mutual in nature. From the beginning of the season, Robert Kraft has made it clear that he wanted his team to be in the playoffs but that did not happen.

With all the information available, a “mutual parting” is the only way ahead for the parties. Despite Belichick’s struggles in recent times, his legacy as the greatest Head Coach who created a winning dynasty and discovered a diamond in Tom Brady will never be overshadowed nor matched by anyone else. He deserves to exit on his own terms and in a dignified manner.
