2022 was a rough year for Tom Brady. The then-Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback was struggling in both personal and professional lives. Brady had an abysmal season with the Bucs in 2022. Furthermore, he and his then-wife Gisele Bündchen decided to end their 13-year-long marriage in October 2022. The following month, Brady suffered a huge financial loss due to the FTX crash. But he seemingly made a good fortune before FTX went downhill.

Author Michael Lewis, who has written the book ‘Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon’ about Sam Bankman-Fried and the rise and fall of the young billionaire’s cryptocurrency recently revealed the huge amount Brady and other celebrities were paid to endorse FTX.

“He paid Tom Brady $55 million for 20 hours a year for three years. He paid Steph Curry $35 million for– same thing for three years,” said Lewis in his recent interview with Jon Wertheim on CBS. “He spent 100 and something million dollars, buying the naming rights for the Miami Heat arena.”

Lewis further went on to reveal that both Bankman-Fried and Brady both adored each other. The 15-time Pro Bowl quarterback found the FTX cryptocurrency CEO Lewis “very interesting” and vice versa. “It’s like the class nerd and the quarterback,” described Lewis. “Even the nerds don’t hang out with this nerd, he’s such a nerd. (laughs) The quarterback somehow likes him. And he somehow likes the quarterback.”

Brady was offered $30 million in FTX stocks to endorse Sam’s cryptocurrency, which became useless when FTX crashed back in 2022. Following the FTX crash, Bankman-Fried was arrested and is now sitting in prison facing a possible sentence of more than 100 years.

The FTX’s head of the company’s partnerships Sina Nader was the one that declined Brady’s urgent call. Later, in an interview with The New York Times, Nader revealed that she was in the middle of a crisis meeting with FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried and had no other option but to decline Brady’s call.

Anyhow, Brady seemed to have managed the 30 million dollar loss as he is now involved in multiple business ventures including buying an ownership stake in the NFL franchise Las Vegas Raiders and the WNBA franchise Las Vegas Aces.
