Ever since Tom Brady retired from playing football, the New England Patriots icon has been involved in multiple business ventures. As a part of his new investments, he recently became the minority owner of the English soccer club Birmingham City. The NFL legend recently traveled to England to witness his new team in action. After enjoying his team’s victory on the field, Brady had a chat with Hugh Woozencroft of ITV Football.
During his interview with ITV Football, the interviewer tried to diss American football by calling soccer “real football” but the seven-time Super Bowl Champion was having none of it.
“Wait a minute, what are you talking about?… There’s pretty good football in America too and, you know, I think for me, I’m a fan of sports. And I’ve been playing sports since I was a kid. Been a big fan of your version of football for a long period of time, too. So it’s a global sport,” said Brady.
Furthermore, the 15-time Pro Bowler confirmed that he has been following soccer for a long time. So, when Birmingham City’s co-owner Tom Wagner pitched the idea of Brady owning a piece of his soccer club, it was a no-brainer for the Patriots icon.
“I’ve enjoyed following it over a long period of time and had family involved in it over a long period of time. So when Tom presented me with opportunity, it was a no-brainer for me,” said Brady.
Brady got to witness his team securing a 1-0 victory against Leeds United in his first taste of the Championship soccer league in England. The 46-year-old former quarterback was also spotted having a chat with Birmingham fans in a pub before the game.

Tom Brady is investing a lot in the sports world

The NFL icon Tom Brady announced his retirement from playing football after dominating the sport for more than 2 decades. Now, he is concentrating on winning as an owner.
So far, Brady has brought a minority stake in the WNBA franchise Las Vegas Aces, EFL team Birmingham City, Major League Pickleball franchise Las Vegas Night Owls, and E1 series team Electric boat racing.
Besides, he has also agreed to a deal with owner Mark Davis to buy an ownership stake in the NFL franchise Las Vegas Raiders. But that deal has now become complicated after a new rule change by the league.
The new rule change will not allow team employees and players to have an ownership stake. As a result of this Brady, who had plans to play a passive role in the Raiders management might end up backing out of the deal with the Raiders.
