5 years ago today, Patrick Mahomes shook the world by having one of the greatest seasons as a first-year starting quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs. He was immediately perceived as a threat and after he led his team to the AFC Championship game, fans and analysts were bold enough to predict that he would dethrone Tom Brady and prove that he was the best QB in the NFL.
Well, that did not happen. The Chiefs played the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship and in an intense game at Arrowhead Stadium, Tom Brady proved yet again why he was the greatest quarterback to play the game as he led his team to a 37-31 victory. After the Pats won the game, the quarterback brought his petty side out and gave a fitting response to all those who had doubted him heading into the game.
Tom Brady posted a video with tight end Rob Gronkowski where the duo was walking to their team bus after beating the Chiefs. The quarterback did a cheeky nod, one that made it seem like he was really trying to say:
You thought I was going to lose to a first year starter? Well, sorry to disappoint!Tom Brady said

Tom Brady led the New England Patriots to their sixth Super Bowl victory in 2019
The song in the background was rather fitting, it was Bad Boys for Life by Black Rob and Diddy. The lyrics were “We ain’t going nowhere, we ain’t going nowhere, we can’t be stopped now cause’ it’s Bad Boy for life.” Safe to say, nobody stopped the Patriots that season because the team ended up going all the way to the Super Bowl and beating the Los Angeles Rams to win the Championship.
At the end of his response, Tom Brady had a two-word statement, one that in many ways should be up there with Michael Jordan’s iconic “I’m back” message. He just put “STILL HERE” to remind everyone that he had not yet retired. It was a reminder to the doubters who had questioned if he could step up to the plate against Mahomes.
It was the last year of the Patriots dynasty as after that season, Tom Brady and Bill Belichick never won a Super Bowl together. The quarterback went to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers two years later and won his seventh Super Bowl. Today marks the fifth anniversary of the Patriots beating the Chiefs in the AFC Championship.
