Tom Brady proved his critics, who claimed he wasn’t one with the speed, wrong when he ran a faster 40-yard dash despite being 46 years old. The ‘NFL GOAT’ surely proved the saying of ‘age is just a number.’
The former New England Patriots quarterback’s first encounter with the NFL Scouting Combine happened back in 2000 when he was a mere 22 years old playing football at Michigan University. He entered the race to build a name for himself ahead of the NFL draft, however, failed miserably when finished with 5.28 seconds– one of the slowest.
But in a recent video posted on Thursday, when the legend participated in the race he successfully redeemed himself from the infamous ‘slow’ tag by completing the race in 5.12 seconds. He beat his younger self by being .16 seconds after at the age of 46, post-retirement.
Heading in for the re-race, Brady wasn’t quite sure whether he’d be able to level up to his previous record as he was young at the time of recording it. But turns out, he’s better than his 22-year-old self in terms of physical specimen and speed.
Though no doubt, age hasn’t been really a factor in Brady’s success. Four out of his seven Super Bowl trophies came after he turned 37 years old, and the most recent one was a couple of years ago, following his 43rd birthday. And seeing the legend after the race, it seems he plans to come back even faster next year, saying, “Next year, it’s going to be faster!“
Fans react to Tom Brady being faster than his 22-year-old self in the 40-yard dash
The former NFL quarterback never disappointed his fans, when it came to winning the most desired competitions. No wonder he’s the winningest quarterback in the history of the NFL.
Back in 2000, he may have not been his best but he also didn’t have standards to live up to. But this time, having one of the highest followers, fans expected Brady to be faster, and once again he didn’t disappoint them. One fan wrote, “Thats incredible! Age is just a number for him!” while another wrote, “At least 10 NFL teams must have watched this and thought, “Should we at least call him?” Here are some of the reactions:
Fans proudly claimed that if Brady got back on the football field, he would come back winning another Super Bowl trophy.
