“Diminishing his legacy by delaying the INEVITABLE”: Tom Brady is reconsidering his decision to come back from retirement

Heading into the 2022 NFL season, none of us expected to see it play out the way this way. Tom Brady is 3-5 this season and Aaron Rodgers is 3-4. Both the greats have been deteriorating in front of our eyes, however, it is the story of TB12 that has left us all speechless this season. This year has been nothing short of a roller coaster ride for the quarterback.

He decided to retire, but the fear of not leaving the game got the better of TB12 and the competitor in him decided to return to the field for one last season. This decision may have been received well by the fans, but it was the tipping point for his wife, Gisele Bündchen, who had enough and left him. His marital life turned upside down and football has always been the outlet for the quarterback that has acted as therapy for him.

Tom Brady did not envision his last season in the NFL going down like this:

Tom Brady came into this season expecting to return to the Super Bowl but he has gotten a harsh reality check.

However, this season, football is far from therapy for Tom, as the struggles of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are just adding to his woes. For the first time in his 23-year-long career, the quarterback has lost three-straight games in a row and he is two games under .500. Following the loss against the Baltimore Ravens, the quarterback took some time to self-reflect and get his head straight.

As per Jeff Darlington, Tom Brady remained in his locker room and just sat there in his uniform with his pads on. He did not talk to anyone and while the rest of the Buccaneers changed and left, he still remained in his gear. This loss was not just another regular one for the quarterback as he has sacrificed a lot this season to ensure he is able to return to the field.

Tom Brady is playing with the same competitive mindset and is as hungry as he was 20-years-ago. However, his body and game are struggling to keep up with his mind and the fact that he has just become the most sacked quarterback in league history just shows how much his body has had to overcome. This season, he is dealing with an offensive line that is underperforming.

His chemistry with Mike Evans and Chris Godwin also appears to have been negatively impacted as there have been a lot of drops by the receivers this season. The GOAT is clearly reconsidering his decision to come back this year. He has always expected his teammates to be as competitive as him, if not more.

The realization is dawning upon him that “Maybe, I am expecting way too much of these guys.” The unfortunate part is Brady played a fairly well game, he threw for 325 yards and had one touchdown pass. But at 45 years of age, he cannot be the man who brings the team back from double-digit deficits as he is accustomed to doing.

It is a rough situation to be in, despite giving the game your everything, you cannot win and feel helpless. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers approach a bye week before they face off against the defending Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams. This break is a much-needed one for Brady and the Buccaneers as they get a chance to introspect and figure out what changes need to be made heading forward.
