Tom Brady thoroughly surprised ‘greatest coach’ Bill Belichick didn’t get any head coaching job following Patriots exit
If Bill Belichick doesn't land anywhere, the 2024 season would be the first season to not have Belichick’s coached team since 1975.

When Bill Belichick parted ways with the New England Patriots after a prolonged period of over two decades, there seemed quite a handful of prospects for the head coach to land his next coaching job. However, the NFL coaching roundabout has come to an end, yet Belichick remains unsecured.
Among the many shocked by the turn of events, Tom Brady, with whom in the lead Belichick lived an era of dominance at the Patriots and won the six Super Bowl rings, voiced his opinion as he expressed his disappointment with the NFL.

Brady said on Let’s Go!” podcast:
I don't know the criteria for hiring coaches. I've never been a part of it. I mean, I'm surprised that the greatest coach ever doesn't have a job, absolutely. But I'm surprised [by] a lot of things in the NFL.Tom Brady said
After Belichick departed from New England, he interviewed for only one team that had a vacancy for the head coach position, the Atlanta Falcons. Despite his two interviews with the franchise, they decide to go ahead with Raheem Morris, instead. As that happened, the last vacancies at Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders also got filled by Mike Macdonald and Dan Quinn, respectively.
Though Belichick didn’t interview for them, they were still counted as a prospect for him. But now, the only option remaining for the 71-year-old is an assistant coach otherwise the 2024 season would be the first season to not have Belichick’s coached team since 1975.
Brian Belichick stays with the Patriots as Jerod Mayo replaces his father
Head coach Belichick may not be on the Patriots’ sideline next season, but his legacy will be. And so will his son, Brian Belichick. A source close to ESPN revealed that the youngest son of Belichick, Brian chose to remain with the Patriots.

He serves as a safeties coach there and for the past four seasons, he worked close to the linebackers coach Jerod Mayo, who was promoted by Robert Kraft to take over his father’s job. On the other hand, Belichick’s brother, Steve decided to leave the franchise and his position as the assistant coach and instead went ahead to serve the University of Washington as a defensive coordinator.
Mayo shares a good bond with Belichick’s son and also referred to him as a “great coach” while acknowledging the open doors for Brian to stay with the franchise. And so he did.
