Tom Brady to the Colts? Peter King DISCLOSES major information about the Bucs QB’s future, urges franchise to forget Deflategate
Tom Brady
Legendary quarterback Tom Brady’s contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ends at the finishing of the 2022 season as the 45-year-old is set to be a free agent in a few months’ time. Despite his age, Brady has shown no signs of retirement and has even reiterated the fact that retirement isn’t on his mind. Naturally, he is linked with many teams after his time at the Buccaneers’ end and amidst the mix, there is a new team that may be interested in Brady.
According to NFL insider Peter King, Brady may end up with the Indianapolis Colts. King disclosed the Colts were interested in getting Brady on board in 2020, but the bad blood between the team and him stopped them from doing so. Ever since the infamous ‘Deflategate’, things have been bitter between Brady and the Colts.
Deflategate is one of the biggest controversies in NFL history in which it was alleged that New England Patriots QB, Brady ordered the deliberate deflation of footballs used in the 2014 AFC Championship game between the Patriots and the Colts. Eventually, the Patriots won the game convincingly 45-7. Due to suspicion, the ball was tested at halftime and a legal war that lasted for years began.
After the investigation was completed, Brady was suspended for the first four games of the 2016 – 2017 season while the Patriots were fined $1 million and forfeited two draft picks. Since this happened against the Colts, the senior management doesn’t particularly have a soft corner for Brady.
Can Tom Brady land up at the Indianapolis Colts next season?
Speaking on Slow News Day, Peter King revealed that the Colts had a chance to sign Brady in 2020 but they said no and now when they have that chance again, he has urged Colts owner Jim Irsay to forgive Brady over the Deflategate scandal and welcome him to the Colts for a year.
“The Colts had a chance [to sign Brady during the 2020 offseason], but the Colts said no. So, now the question is, with a more desperate Colts team, would Chris Ballard and Jim Irsay say all is forgiven for Josh McDaniels and Deflategate and welcome in Tom Brady for a year.”
This year, Brady hasn’t performed as expected and has looked out of sorts. He hasn’t been able to lead the offense well courtesy of which the Bucs are 6-8 for the season. However, the team will expect Brady to use all his years of experience and fire at the business end of the season.
