Renowned journalist Albert Breer has confirmed that the Las Vegas Raiders have their eyes set on legendary quarterback Tom Brady and are strongly looking to sign him next season. Seven-time Super Bowl champion, Brady, will be a free agent at the end of this season and as things stand, is not looking to retire despite being 45. He will be looking for a new team and speculations have already begun.
Over the last few weeks, Brady has been linked to various teams. While some believe that Brady might just stay with the Buccaneers for another year, others want him to go back to the Patriots and eventually retire with the team, where it all began for him. He was even linked with the San Francisco 49ers, a team whom Brady is really fond of. The latest on the list is the Las Vegas Raiders.
The Raiders have struggled a lot this year and missed out on the playoffs with a poor 6-11 record. They even benched longtime QB Derek Carr for the last couple of matches and have moved past him. Jarrett Stidham started QB for them in Carr’s absence, but even he couldn’t have a big enough impact. Hence, they will be looking for a new QB and Brady could be the perfect fit for them.
Speaking on the Dan Patrick Show, Albert Breer discussed the QB position at the Raiders and believes that it will be a tight tussle between Jimmy G and Tom Brady. Despite this, Breer asserted that the Raiders are actively looking into signing Brady. “I can tell you, unequivocally, it is a fact. The Raiders are looking into signing Tom Brady,” he said.
NFL Twitter reacts to Tom Brady possibly joining the Raiders
Fans had mixed reactions to Brady possibly joining the Raiders. The prospect of Brady joining the same division as Patrick Mahomes thrilled many fans, while some weren’t convinced that Brady is the right fit for Las Vegas. The 45-year-old was also linked to many other teams.
Currently, Brady still has the chance to win another Super Bowl as he’ll attempt to win yet another playoff game this Monday. The Buccaneers will face the Dallas Cowboys on Monday night and Brady will look to maintain his undefeated record against Dallas. If the Bucs win, they will face the Eagles in the divisional round.
