Tom Brady retired unceremoniously after 23 great seasons in the NFL. The former Patriots QB joined the league as a clear underdog and left as the best player of all time.
Brady has indisputably cemented an unparalleled legacy throughout his illustrious football career. The legendary quarterback played for only two teams, the New England Patriots and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, it’s worth pondering how his career might have unfolded if he had chosen to play for a different team instead of the Buccaneers.
The 45-year-old had won 6 Super Bowls in the Patriots and decided it was time for a change and wanted to dominate new territories. Although he didn’t have many options with him due to his age, a couple of takers showed a massive interest in him.
One of them was the Las Vegas Raiders, who showed great interest in Brady, and the deal was even confirmed. However, the deal fell through during the last moment due to certain conditions.
Raiders TE Darren Waller recently revealed to Forbes that Tom Brady to the Raiders deal was a lock, and the QB was expected to move to Las Vegas. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen due to their HC at the time Jon Gruden.
“I’ve heard it from multiple sources that I respect and I’ve been close to,” Waller told Forbes last week. “They’re like, ‘Yeah, Brady to the Raiders was a lock.’”
Dana White, the President of UFC, also pointed out the same thing when speaking on UFC 278 with the Gronk. White blamed Gruden for dismantling the Tom Brady deal, which also included his friend and teammate Rob Gronkowski.
“I worked to put that deal together for Brady and Gronk to come to the Raiders,” White stated during UFC 278 with the Gronks. “It was almost a done deal. At the last minute, Gruden blew the deal up and said that he didn’t want them.”

Tom Brady later joined the Bucs and won a Super Bowl with them
Many teams didn’t take the risk my signing Tom Brady as they thought he was old and would be a liability to the team. However, all of them were proven wrong when the legendary QB won his 7th Super Bowl after joining the Bucs.
Brady was the best QB in the league while being 43 years old, and everyone would feel guilty for letting the legendary QB go. Especially, former Raiders HC Jon Gruden who later had to resign due to an email scandal that saw him use homophobic and misogynistic language in his messages.
On the other hand, Tom Brady retired twice from the Bucs, and this time for good, as the former QB wants to spend more time with his family and cultivate relationships that he once ignored.
