“What your a** doing there,” Tom Brady unimpressed with Leonard Fournette for visiting New England Patriots during free agency

“What your a** doing there,” Tom Brady unimpressed with Leonard Fournette for visiting New England Patriots during free agency

Tom Brady is all set to return for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in what will be his 23rd season in the NFL. However, this did not look as straight forward as a decision in February, when the 44-year old quarterback announced his retirement from the sport.

During that time, a number of close peers and friends from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers looked for a way out of the franchise, if they received a better deal and it turns out running back Leonard Fournette was also one of them. The 27-year old’s contract at the Buccaneers had come to an end, and he was probably testing the waters as he showed up in New England.

Leonard Fournette signed a 3-year contract extension with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers eventually

This act from Leonard Fournette did not impress Tom Brady, and the veteran made his displeasure known to him. Tom Brady called him in March and asked about his whereabouts after announcing his decision of making a return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for another season. Brady said, “What’s your ass doing up there, man?

Leonard Fournette revealed what his conversation with Brady went like and praised the seven time Super Bowl winner.

“He hasn’t lost a step. He is who he is,” Leonard Fournette said of Tom Brady. “And me just being alongside him these three years, I wouldn’t want any other guy back there with us. He deserves everything he’s got and that’s coming to him. And I’m just proud of him.”

Things turned out perfectly for Fournette and Brady, as the former signed a three year contract extension worth $21 million with Buccaneers and it seems that the veteran’s words of advice did have quite an impact on the running back.
