On Sunday, the New York Jets, led by their former second-overall pick Zach Wilson, went against their AFC East division rivals, the Miami Dolphins in their week 15 matchup. During the game broadcast, CBS announcer Tony Romo provided his opinion on Aaron Rodgers‘ potential return to the team.

The Jets have till Wednesday to activate Rodgers off the injured reserve list. If they didn’t do that, Rodgers’ season would be officially over since he wouldn’t be able to play in the remaining three games. While discussing the possibility of the Jets lifting Rodgers off the IR list, Romo provided a strong statement on the situation.

[Aaron Rodgers] is not gonna be on the roster. I mean, no.
Romo said on the broadcast

Furthermore, Romo acknowledged the efforts by the 39-year-old quarterback to return to the field in the ongoing season. However, Romo doesn’t see any point in Rodgers returning to the Jets, who have been officially eliminated from postseason contention. Besides, he also doesn’t believe Rodgers should risk another injury while playing behind New York’s abysmal offensive line in meaningless games.

I think that obviously he's gone out there and talked about it throughout the year, and he's shown signs of coming back. But you would really have to be in the playoff hunt for me to use a roster spot. And the O-line is not exactly protecting the quarterback at a high level
Romo said

What Tony Romo said is absolutely true. The talented quarterback should not risk big injuries at his age to play in meaningless games. The Jets should use those games to try to increase the trade value of their backup QB Zach Wilson, who they are reportedly thinking about trading away in the off-season.

Aaron Rodgers impressed his teammates with one-hand interception in practice

The former All-Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers has made a remarkable recovery after suffering a torn Achilles earlier in the season. Rodgers, who is currently involved in practice sessions with the Jets, made an impressive one-hand interception according to reports.

There is no video available to prove Rodgers’ one-hand grab, but his teammates have praised the quarterback’s ability to do that just months after his Achilles injury.

Jumped up and caught it with one hand. He contested a catch and picked it off.

Nonetheless, despite his miraculous recovery, Rodgers might not play again this season. With their loss against the Dolphins in week 15, the Jets have been officially eliminated from playoffs. So, there’s no reason for Rodgers to play again behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league.
